Our very first fulfilled dream felt like a dream for everyone involved. Who among us can imagine being separated from the dearest and closest person in our life, from their lifelong love, at the twilight of our days?
In 1956, their lifelong “I do” echoed through the town hall. Fate, age, and illness struck the couple more than half a century later. Illness took its toll, and Mrs. Irenka required long-term hospitalization. Her husband ended up in a different hospital, with his life nearing its end.
His dream, shared with us by the incredible Supportive and Palliative Care Team of the Faculty Hospital Královské Vinohrady, was simple yet profound: “to see, hold, and kiss his Irenka one last time, to embrace her and tell her that she will forever be his only one.”
🫶 The reunion was beautiful. Even though Mrs. Irenka was quite disoriented and sometimes "lost," she recognized her husband immediately. She tenderly touched him throughout, ensuring he was comfortable, asking if he was tired... And with tears in his eyes, the loving husband admired her longer hair, telling her how beautiful she looked, repeating it joyfully.
🫶 Moments like these are droplets of miracles. The happiness such a seemingly small act can bring is immeasurable. The love we witnessed filled us with hope: may we too find such happiness and never miss it, even if it lasts only for a few fleeting moments. 🙏
